If the thread gauge nut is large enough to fit over the center of the tail stock, place it on there before the work piece and it will be ready to check the threads without removing the part from the lathe
The year is 2024 and we as a country have failed ourselfs to keep the trades alive hope it changes
Make sure your tools are on Center

Wow, Dexter really made a career change at some point in his life.
So what happened? 10 videos posted then gone.......... ????

How to use an obsolete machine ? Maybe make a video of how to use a commodore computer?
Way more people still use manual mills than Commodore computers..what a strikingly unintelligent comment
Это станки шедевры и мечта миллионов сегодняшних мужчин с руками не из жопы
This guy doesn't use lubricant ??
That was fascinating ! I just got a big old industrial milling machine and am now looking how to use it. Didn't realize it was an hour long though...2:16 am, oops!
One of the best videos I’ve seen on UA-cam about the lathe and it’s working for the older machines. It is a very cool piece. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Thank you so much!!😊
just got here and yes I am necro'ing the feed but ty for the vid
It seems that part of the skills then was not to get injured when working. This reminds me of a mechanical engineer who always wear white coveralls when working or inspecting work in the engine room of ships under repair in a dock yard and never once saw his clothes soiled
You are excellent instructo to clear teching about mAchine shop.
Went to a vocational high school for Machine Tool. Hated every minute of it. Now, looking back over thirty years, I'm amazed how much I remember. I can smell this video. Especially when the cut starts.
Thank you! Great info! Greatings from the netherlands.
The "jumping" of the drill comes from the taper, wich is NOT "working as a funnel". A drill must be centered by his tip. That taper from the centerdrill just makes him scratching with one cutting edge, so it dances arround. Better to make just a small and short start hole with the center drill.
Make sure at all times your camera is in focus. As it is imposable to see the information you are trying to impart, and blurred shots drive one to distraction. You need to get the basics right!
It is downloading and you have to understand that is the best compliment!

I have a South bend . Love it.
had to replay that first bit before i got it... "special steel", NOT "stainless steel"... was worried that they messed up in teh first few seconds. that would have been a concern...
Don’t consider trying to fix something that is broken! Good job,Monte! 0:02
Don’t consider trying to fix something that is not broken. Good job Monte!
Good job Monte’
Nothing beats Old School! Nothing!
The book was better than the movie... 🤣😂🤣
I had apprentices in my machine shop. I always made sure safety was of paramount importance where i never allowed anyone using a file. Files have contributed to many serious injuries to artisans. The use of a file on a lathe is not allowed by the apprentice board and workman's inspectors in our county.
What a wonderfully quiet lathe!
Thank you for video.
It is interesting how were made first machine tools in times when there were no machine tools
hey guys wondering if anyone in the New York area would willing to teach me the basic operation of the lathe and Bridgeport machines willing to compensate for your time. Thank you.
The best video for metal turning LEVEL 1 UK. This will make you pass if you follow this. (without the file for breaking the edge) Excellent video
Why am I watching this😂
Loved that class in jr high school
Все думают что станочники full idiots. I'm станочник.
Is this guy 7 foot tall or something? I have to use a step stool to reach my draw bar. And I don't have a riser in my mill ? 🤣
Thanks much
Excellent Video and excellent precise instructor.
this is just awesome , why isn't anybody making movies like this anymore , people used to really cared about making educational content
You can leave the half nut lever engaged
I like the knowledge l.but the resolution is brutal
anyone know what type of lathe he is running?
